Popcorn/Soda/Candy Box Tutorial

The objective of this tutorial is:

1. To have a template on hand that you can very easily add graphics to make your own.

2. To install and use Selections (.sel) files in Paint Shop Pro.

3. To make your final layouts with color coordinating accents and appealing to the eye, even if you are not good at color coordinating.

4. To understand filters a little bit more.

Getting Prepared

Working with tutorials I feel that you need to get paint shop pro ready so when you actually concentrate on the tutorial and not have to stop during the actual tutorial. I feel this makes for less confusion.

1. First make a working folder on your computer. Remember where it is. For this tutorial we will call it "Popcorn Tutorial". Now make a sub folder called "downloads". This is where we will save the downloads. If you ever need them again later on down the line all of your downloads will be together.

2. Download the following zip files into your "Popcorn Tutorials/downloads" folder:

My Template: 2page-popcorn-temp-roundtop-marti.psp

The Selections Zip File: selections.zip

Harrys Filters: harrysfilters2.exe

3. Copy the psp template into the "Popcorn Tutorials" folder. This way you now have a back-up of your template.

4. Unzip the Selections Zip file. There are 2 .sel files in there, these are called: popcornbottom.sel and popcorntop.sel. These 2 files need to be saved into paint shop pro. They go into:

".../paint shop pro/selections" folder

5. Now we need to install the Filters (I love these filters)

I use Windows explores and double click on harryfilters2.exe. Since it is a self loading (Hurray! way too easy) just follow the screens. It will ask you where you want the filters. Here is a guide on the information needed. ....paint shop pro/plugins folder.

6. Check you are pointing to the plugins folder.

In PSP:

Select File
- Preferences
- General Program Preferences...
- Select the Plug-in Filters tab.

Ensure there is a tick in the 'Enable filters' box and that the 'folders' list points to your plugins folder.

We are now ready to move on to the tutorial.
